Bisoprolol & AF

Hi, I was diagnosed with mild dilated cardiomyopathy in august 2021, I was constantly feeling palpitations & flutters when resting. After months of test I was finally told I had paroxysmal AF I was sent for a mri which shown mild damage to my heart. I was put on 2.5 bisoprolol & 2.5 ramipril, the symptoms settled down & I felt great, I was then told to have a cardio ablation & put on 5mg twice daily prior to my operation which I underwent in feb 22, I am currently on them still for 3 months! in March I had my year on echocardiogram to check the progress & was seen by my cardiologist last week. The good news is my heart is no longer showing signs of damage so the problem was hopefully just a case of myocarditis which caused the af! I was told to stop the bisoprolol last Thursday but continue the ramipril for now. Since stopping the meds last Thursday my anxiety has been very high, I’ve now noticed my heart back in the state of jumping about again. Possibly the Af!!!! Is this normal coming of the meds or should I just start taking the bisoprolol again?

I think coming of bisprolol should be gradual as you can suffer problems like anxiety and higher heart rate we’re you on them for long I think you will get more answers to this question. Take care

Hi, I was on the meds 10 months, I’ve been to see my cardiologist since this recent episode & he told that the heart will throw ectopic beats at me as it’s been used to blocking them with the bisoprolol For 10 months, my worry was the paroxysmal af was back days after stopping it abruptly. To be sure they are just ectopics he gave me a 24hr ecg friday, I will get my results back from him weds. Fingers crossed it’s just the heart getting used to working without the meds, & coping with the ablation, after all it was only 8 weeks ago i had that done.
