Hi Guys, I am a regular reader, but have only posted once with reference to my meds and frequent toilet visits.
I had an angiogram and 1 stent on oct 17/21 due to a heart attack and the meds I came out of the hospital with are
Aspirin 75mg
Atorvastatin 80mg
Bisoprolol 1.25mg
Clopidogrel 75mg
Lansoprazole 30mg ( first thing in the morning)
Candesartan 2mg (first thing in the morning))
A) I am feeling great and would say I am back to about 90% of my fitness level for an 80-year-old.
B) as I said in my first post, the ONLY downside was, that I was having a bowel movement up to 3 times daily which I put down to meds.
But as suggested here, and my own common sense, I pursued it with my GP and he send me for a FIT test. The result was, that my count should have been 10 but it was 170 so he sent me for a bowel cancer colonoscopy scan. There was nothing nasty, just a few small polyps so I will go again for removal as they would not do so with me being on thinners.
Has anyone else had similar bowel movements in connection to meds ??

Good news that they only found polyps that can be removed
I had the same but just one which I have got to get removed to
Different medications can affect people differently and some can cause constipation and others the opposite
It could even settle down after you get those polyps removed or you could have IBS which can come on any time in life
But of course it could be one or more of your medications causing it and yes sometimes some medications have made me go to the toilet more
Is it affecting the quality of your life , stopping you doing things etc
If not then maybe accepting that you now go to the toilet more would be the way to go
If it is getting in the way of your quality of life and stopping you doing things and making you feel ill then only your Doctor can help in sorting which is the best way to resolve this
But yes I think quite a few of us would be able to say certain medications have caused us to open our bowels more
Good luck with having the polyps removed and I hope everything settles down or you can get this sorted with the help of your Doctor if you are finding it hard to cope with x
Hi l certainly did have bowel problems for 5 months constantly alternating degrees of diarrhea/ loose motions up to 5 times a day it was exhausting andcl stopped eating so many different foods trying to eliminate what it could be . I had Colonoscopy exactly what you went though same results nothing serious few polops. At a pre - op appointment for Cardioversion with my Cardiologist revealed onevof my medications could becthe culprit , hremoved my Lanzoprsole and changed it to another. It was magic!!! Totally changed my life l could go anywhere without military planning around toilets.
