D-dimmer test

My right calf looked swollen and was a bit red. My GP suspected a blood clot so gave me a D-Dimer blood test which was negative. I couldn’t have blood thinners because I have an ascending aortic aneurysm. The negative result suggested it’s not a blood clot but GP did not give me an idea what might be the cause. My right knee has now become swollen as well and feels quite tight. Any idea?

Cheers
