Friend has a pacemaker fitted and wants to go to Kos in May and is wondering if the heat will affect the pacemaker. Any comments please?

Hello :-)

I am not a Doctor but my Dad had to have a pacemaker put in when he was on Holiday in France and then flew home after

I doubt the heat will affect him as well as I would imagine he would be ok to fly but the best advice you could give him is to check with his Doctor and hopefully it will be ok :-) x

Ask your Dr is the best advice. The scar would need to be properly healed and the skin can be sensitive so lots of factor 50/moisturiser. Many people with implanted devices do go on holiday in the sun, my husband being one. Just be sensible & don’t get burned Kos can be hot! Bon Voyage!

Thank you. He is not an avid sun worshipper like me but prefers people watching from a bar.

Absolutely not , I’ve been on lots of lovely holidays since having my pacemaker and ICD fitted. Tell them to have a great time.

Have been in Florida in the high 90's with no problems to my ICD, please make sure your friend has told the insurance company, good luck
