I have a Medtronic pacemaker and , currently a bad back.
Bought an electric heat pad today from Argos (Dreamland Intelliheat) and although there’s nothing on the outside of the box the instruction leaflet inside says it’s not to be used if you have a pacemaker.
I have looked at the Medtronic on line info and electronic and magnetic effects on pacemakers and it says it’s minimum if used correctly.
Anyone used one of these pads and any side effects noticed? I suppose I could always switch on, warm up, then switch off before leaning on it but that’s a bit of a faff.
Thanks

I personally wouldn't use it but why not contact your pacing clinic and ask them. Or your cardiac nurse if you have one. If they say no, perhaps a hot water bottle could help
I love a hot water bottle, mines a great comforter. What about asking your GP or the pharmacist if your pacing clinic says no. My husband has an ICD & suffers with his back, he was always prescribed tramadol & that really helped. Unfortunately he developed an allergy to tramadol so he's now prescribed cocodermol.
I hope you find something to ease the pain, back pain has got to be one of the worse because you just cannot get comfortable with it.
Hi. There a quite a few things that you cannot use with a Pacemaker. I recently checked with the Pacemaker Clinic regarding a Smart Watch and they said you have to be very careful with ANY Medical Devices as they can interfere with the Settings on a Pacemaker so they thought it was not advisable! Maybe you could ring yours! Good Luck 😊
Dear You,
Don't get bogged down worrying what you can and can't use with that amazing piece of kit in your chest.
I have the same one as you, I cook on induction hob and use various tools etc. I wear a heated jacket.
All modern pacemakers will reset to your own personal setting should you somehow upset them.
As my clinic said they have never had a mis functioning pacemaker due to client error ever.
