Stents. I read a lot about people needing stents after an HA.. I would love to know why i didn't. The doc said that my heart muscle was not damaged. I think i was a bit numb or shocked after the event and didn't ask any questions. It has left me with angina. Sorry for the ignorance re stents

Hello,
Did you ask the Cardiologist why they thought you had a heart attack?
About 10% of heart attacks happen without any permanent narrowing or blockages of the coronary arteries.
MINOCA Myocardial infarction non obstructive coronary arteries.
The causes are microvascular dysfunction, vasospastic angina, spontaneous coronary artery dissection or a clot forming and blocking an artery.
There is also research showing that women often have their heart attacks misdiagnosed or diagnosed late . Women are less likely to receive the recommended treatment to treat and prevent further heart attacks.
I think i was in some sort of shock/denial a i asked no questions. My troponin levels were elevated and my lft's deranged..... I don't drink and am not overweight. I was on clopidogrel for 3 months and I remain on a pill for blood pressure disp aspirin and atorvastatin. Its just the education that I am receiving by reading the post and people seem to have stents after a HA... My lft's are back to normal with a test due at the end of March. Thanks for your answer although the terms are new to me.. Thanks milkfairy
Have you been offered Cardiac Rehab?
You can have raised troponin levels for other reasons.
I suggest you write down all your questions, ask your Cardiac rehab nurse or at your follow up with the Cardiologist.
My cardiac rehab consists of on line exercises... After reading posts here i am thinking about using a stationery bike to exercise.. I would have preferred to attend a exercise class but not poss due to pandemic. I suffer chronic back so long walks aren't suitable. I was told that i had a mild HA, which would be consistent with family history. And have angina. Before broken back i was super fit dont smoke or drink and am vegetarian. I have an open app with cardiologist via GP. Thanks milkfairy for your help and kindness and will ask GP at next app. Take care xx 😊
Placing a stent damages the blood vessel. They inflate it with 10 bars of pressure to place the stent. The blood vessel then needs some time to heal post procedure. If a patient doesn’t need one it’s better to treat with medication.
Then you need to go back and ask. It is unsurprising you weren't 100% after such a shock, but you need to ask. I assume it was a cardiologist you saw and not a GP as you seem to imply. If it was you need to see a cardio.
It was the cardiologist who did run tests. It is my gp i attended for follow up with open app for hrr to send me to the cardiologist. It seems that I have been very lucky. Thanks for the info take care
Before my angiogram 3 weeks agoI was advised that I would only be stented if artery is >70% blocked
50-70% blockages are treated by medications
<50% lifestyle advice
Speak to your cardiac nurse and make the most of your 2nd chance!
My LAD was 90% blocked so got one stent lots of medication but so glad to be here
