Candestarten side effects

I have been prescribed Candestarten after a Taketsubo. It has lowered my blood pressure but after taking for a month I have arm and shoulder pain and exceedingly dry mouth at night.

Could this be a side effect. Would it be safe to stop Candestarten for a few days to see if the arm and shoulder pain stops.

I’m finding this site difficult to use but have had some really helpful replies to my first posts. Thank you all,

Hello :-)

It can be very hard to say if stopping your BP med for a few days would hurt you or not

I have had side effects from medication but have always asked my Doctor for their advice and would say if I was you I would speak with my Doctor before you did to :-)

Sorry you are struggling using the site is there anything we can help you with or explain how it works to help you be able to use it better ? :-)

Give your Doctor a ring over the Blood pressure medication and see what they say :-) x

Thank you for your reply.I seem to get reactions with most of the medications that have been prescribed. This aching muscles, chronic dry mouth, skin irritation and general weariness have been the worse.

Getting an appointment with my GP is worse than useless. They have shown absolutely no interest in my problems since my diagnosis. I never see a GP and any discussion is over the telephone. I have not seen or spoken to the consultan for a yearwho has delayed my consultation with him by a month. This will be over the telephone. However an ECG has been organised for February 24th.

My blood pressure is down since I started the Candestarten but my morale is at the lowest it has ever been.

I was told after an MRI, subsequent to the Taketsubo, that my heart had returned to normal and all medication was stopped. Then after an electrocardiograph it was discovered that the ejection factor of my heart was reduced to 55 and it was then that the Candestarten was prescribed.

I just wonder if it would be better to attempt to reduce BP by diet and exercise. I don’t want to live forever and quality of life is more important to me than quantity.

I am managing the site, which I have found very helpful, a little easier now.

Hello :-)

I do relate to medications giving you side effects that make life harder as I am having similar issues

So far I have left a message for my Consultant , Doctor and Rehab Nurses today as I need to know what to do and I do not want to take any risks by experimenting myself

I do relate about how hard it is to get hold of a Doctor

Mine was suppose to phone me Tuesday did not get a call then yesterday she was suppose to phone no call and it is very frustrating

We cannot advise anyone if to stop medications or not as we are not Doctors but you have to do whatever is best for you

I know you say your Blood pressure is good but it could be down to the medication why it is

Before I had my heart attacks and Bypasses I had high blood pressure and I was getting side effects , I stopped my medication and within 2 days my blood pressure went straight back up so you have to be very careful

It may not even be the medication causing your symptoms and it could be you need to change the medication

I would try my Doctors again and tell them you need a call back and today and I understand that you want quality of life but also you can have that for many more years just be firm and let those Doctors know you need to speak to one :-)

I am glad you have worked out how to use the site it can seem complicated but quite easy once you have worked it out :-) x

Thank you for replying. It was good to have your views.I am loathe to take another of these awful tablets but will look at other options.

My Taketsubo was brought about by a fall on the ice. I was told when I was eventually referred to the ambulatory dept. for an X-ray. The GP thought I might have broken a rib because of my chest pain.

I was told my heart was damaged and I had heart failure. Also that this sort of fall couldn’t have caused the Taketsubo. Of course when the MRI showed my heart had returned to normal this view changed.

Such a mess.
