Hello, I was put on labetalol for high blood pressure and pre eclampsia during my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. I’m now 3 months post partum and still on 200mg a day which the dr is t trying to get me off.
My question however is, I have read that labetalol can cause heart failure?! Is this correct because it’s making me quite anxious to keep taking it.
Any advice and support would be great!
Thank you

I was on Labetalol with both my pregnancies and switched to Nifedipine because it stopped working after a year the first time and then the second was so dizzy on it. But I never had heard that about heart failure! I was put on it by a blood pressure team at the hospital, is there someone that u could ask like that? I'm sure if u have concerns u could ask for a different one...but unfortunately they might all have different side effects 🤔 Having a problem with pins and needles in my hands only to have my GP say that is one of the Nifedipine side effects!
Also if it's like the case of me, put on meds during pregnancy and wasn't able to completely get off the meds after. Hope it's not the case for u but I have a strong family history of heart problems so probably won't be ever getting free of it. Good news my cholesterol has gone down so won't have to be going back to those meds....yet! ☺️
