Hi all you lovely people. I am in AF and have been since 4.40 pm. I took a flecainide straight away. It was all over the place to begin with and is now 180.bpm. My surgeon constantly tells me that this fine. Just rest and eventually it will return to normal. I just need some reassurance and kind words as I get very stressed out when this happens. Thank you. You have always helped me and given me good advice, which is so much appreciated.
AF episode: Hi all you lovely people. I... - British Heart Fou...
AF episode
I've had AF for 17 years and at a rate of 180 I'd be taking myself off to A&E. I once went in with a rate of 160 which I'd had most of the day and was asked why I hadn't gone in earlier. Is your rate of 180 making you feel ill?

Yes,I do feel pretty awful when this happens. But not too bad when I am sat down. But getting up and walking around, I feel my heart is taking off down the street! Weak legs and a feeling of passing out. But my surgeon says just rest and eventually it will return to normal. It did this at 10pm last night. If I start to have episodes like this, I will speak to him and get my meds increased. You have given me sound advice in the past, for which I am very grateful. Thank you.
If these high bpms get any worse, I will speak to my surgeon and have my meds Increased. He doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem and they don’t happen that often, at the moment. But I am aware this is probably going to get worse, but with the proper meds surely this can be controlled and I perhaps won’t worry so much about it.
AF is not nice having experienced it post op of my cabg x 4 and had a cardio version that worked but 8 weeks later had another episode Went to A and E who called my cardiology dept and went into beta blocker
Thankfully now settled down so beta blocker currently 2.5mg has done the. Trick
Would ask doctor to review your meds
Best wishes
