I had a first ever Atrial Fibrillation episode and after receiving Beta blockers I returned to sinus rhythm in about 48 hours. I have been sent home with 1.25mg beta blocker. Will I be taking them forever. I am 60.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Some of friends suffer from this, and one has now virtually eliminated it and come off medication. He removed alcohol, coffee, chocolate and spicy foods from his diet. Other triggers are smoking and stress, which if they apply may be harder to reduce.

I think it would depend on what caused it , perhaps you ought to see if an ecg could be done. In case there is an underlying problem , do you have high blood pressure ?

Hi had ECG they cannot work out why it happened. It could be increased alcohol consumption during lockdown but only guessing. I do have High blood pressure. Thanks

Is it possible that you were over stressed which led to you possible consuming more alcohol take care x

How high is your blood pressure,? Is your waist half your height , e.g. 6' high - 36" waist (or less ) is a good measurement? How much exercise do you get? The good news is that all these measurements can change.
