I was changed from 40mg Furosemide to 1mg Bumetanide in Feb last year and had increasing lightheadedness feeling walking on bubble wrap pressure and noises in both ears and neck and head stiff. I asked for tablet be changed or halved and was told I had benign vertigo to keep taking tablets they won’t kill me but fluid will. Has anybody got similar experience of this loop diuretic.

Bumetanide side effects
Dear Snoqueenie
I have had exactly the same side effects but the other way around, so moved from Bumetanide to Furosemide.
I cannot believe that they told you that line “ vertigo won’t kill you but water will “ one it’s not a very professional thing , two it’s verging on being rude and three it does nothing to stop you worrying.
No way should your feelings of vertigo be taken lightly, it’s debilitating, it’s dangerous { falls etc } and just makes you feel awful.
You need to contact them again , there are many forms of water tablets, one will suit you with lesser side effects.
I am not medically trained but that doesn’t stop me being shocked at your treatment.
Sure water retention is a serious ailment that needs to be addressed, but not in the manner that it has with you.
Take care and let us know the outcome.
Thanks Blue Furosemide brought me out in hives all over. I’m contacting the surgery tomorrow.
