Shocked at live interview against BHF!!

Hello everyone, this is the first time I have written on here but... I just wanted to point out the live interview on GMTV with "WILL YOUNG!" He was pulling down The BHF! I understand that he is passionate about his "causes" but he could have named others not just putting emphasis on ONLY the BHF!

If you could watch it on catch up Scott that might help but, he said that That the British Heart Foundation are the worst for Animal Cruelty for breeding dogs just to test for us! I think myself that wasn't fair to blame the BHF! Wow I love animals! (I'm panicking cause one of my fish is looking poorly!) But for Will Young to aim that at the BHF I think is personally wrong! He kept saying we live in a democracy and basically he can say what he likes! It offended me. (Maybe that's me) but I'm sure others would agree it was wrong to Blame the BHF ...

The BHF do use animals, are you complaining because he singled them out?

That's what I have been searching for!! "His evidence!" I am going to put a complaint in as there are a few of my friends who are like me in heart failure also vegans. I think he needs to do some homework! (I'm not vegan)

It's about animals not just dogs.

I think the post is about BHF using dogs. I think everyone is aware of animals being used for heart science. Pigs are a perfect example many on here have valve replacement using pig valve.

You are right about it being about dogs.

I just know that the discussion was about animals and he mentioned that Beagle dogs been bred for human experiments. The point I didn't think was necessary was saying The British Heart Foundation. I know pigs valves were used before as they my friend had a pigs valve. I have emailed the [e-mail] about this so will wait a reply... (if they bother to reply!) It does say in the T&C that not all emails are read and replied too! Pity!

I have started and got rid of my reply to your post a few times, the same with the post headed “ man gets pig heart “ why ?

Without slagging Mr Young off I think all true strong minded famous people with little knowledge seem to be able to get their point published and their voices heard.

But for Mr Young sounding off we would not be having this conversation on here and the many many doors that it could open.

I am known on here as being a long term vegan and I have said many times that I’m not a flag waver for them or anyone else, but..

I am not stupid enough to realise that I would not be here if animal testing was not done, years ago with my cancer, and as you know now the heart problems.

I adore animals and the main reason I was a vegetarian then vegan for most of my 63 years was the fact that I could never kill one { strange as I didn’t think twice in joining the army to be trained to kill a human }.

I campaigned hard in the 70s/80s /90s against animal testing for cosmetics etc and what I witnessed was heart breaking to say the lest all for the vanity of consumers.

But there was a point with medical advancements that only animals could be used.

We are lucky in this country that animal labs are very tightly controlled, I’m afraid it is not the same in other country’s.

How far would I let that control go to save another humans life? I really don’t know,

But if it was a loved one ? [ and am I not loved ? ] then I already know the answer, which unlike Mr Young I will be keeping to myself.

I actually give no weight to anything Will Young has to say, he has his own demons, one of which is the need to be in the public eye and be controversial,

Thank you for your replies, yes I agree with what you mean, he does suffer with his own demons. Sorry to hear about your illnesses I to suffer from many other illnesses. I have emailed the ITV GMB about this live interview that was on this morning but I will await a response/reply if any. I just wanted to say that it was the wrong use of words he used.

I have seen the American gentleman who has had a Genetically Modified pigs heart.

If Will Young had to be treated for a serious heart condition , I wonder if he would think differently ?Personally I don't take much notice of what he says , and I think GMB is a rather sensationalist programme !

Isobel, that's right, the reason I brought this up as my 1st conversion on here is that he targeted The British Heart Foundation! I am in heart failure as well as other serious conditions since my heart failure diagnosis. I was just shocked that there was nothing said (from Lorraine Kelly interview) other than a "Yes I agree" I never follow celebrity stories but it's an awful things to throw at us. Well I do follow the news, but who is Will Young, never heard of him? I try to get my information from reasoable well-based sources.

Id say he has every right to his opinion and I would also support BHF not experimenting on dogs. Pig valves are at least taken from animals used in meat production (I know this is hypocritical) however, dogs are mans best friend and show a degree of love, trust and bonding wifh humans that makes their mistreatment particularly appalling.
