Bisoprolol : I'm on 2.5 of bisoprolol... - British Heart Fou...
Bisoprolol
I'm so thankful that they "dish the drugs" out to me, otherwise my Grandkids wouldn't be seeing their Grandad on Christmas Day.Yes, over the last 6 months I've had some terrible side effects, but these have been lessened by having chats with our GP and having a couple of changes made to me daily cocktail.
In my book it's a small price to pay.
That is your choice, of course, but over the years I have received good care and concern from Drs and they have done an awful lot of juggling and balancing combinations of drugs as my symptoms change and new drugs come on the market. The BHF online cardiac nurses are very knowledgable and helpful on
03003303311 usual office hours, if you wanted to discuss it?
You don't mention anything about why you've been prescribed Bisoprolol. One can only guess it is for your heart/blood pressure? We all respond differently to medication. There are side effects of all medicines that some of us just put up with, because we are glad to be in the land of living. Some we cannot tolerate and then the choice is ours. It's a very difficult position to be in. Why don't you have a telephone consultation with your GP and/or have a word at your local pharmacy?
Dear Bigsock1234
So sorry that you are suffering so with the side effects of the medication that you have been prescribed.
Re-reading your other posts it seems that you are very sensitive to medication, have you always been so? [need only half the dose of painkillers etc to be affective]
If that is the case then your Dr needs to know this.
bisoprolol Is an amazing drug but like most it does have its own side effects for some, but there are other drugs that do the same job which hopefully don’t have the effects your suffering.
You say that your journey is only beginning and my heart { newly rebuilt } feels for you.
You must find peace with the medical profession, { even change your Dr } because they will be the ones that will be giving you a better standard of life.
You don’t have to except everything from them at face value, question, question, question until you are satisfied with the answers.
You say you know your own body, which is a fantastic thing, let them know that and begin working as a team.
The rewards for you will be far greater than they are for them.
You are in my thoughts, the journey goes faster than you think.
Hello Bigsock1234, I am on 2.5 of bisoprolol, and I am going to ask the GP if I can halve the dose. I have low blood pressure, but I think I was given it to lower my heart rate as well. I have been getting dizzy when I stand up, so I think it might be the dose. I also have some nausea from it, so hopefully this might sort it. I hope you get on okay, take good care. Judi
Hi Bigsock - i know what you mean and after a heart attack you are generally given the same set of drugs on the NHS. My cardiac doctors have been pretty useless but i guess this pandemic has played a part in that. I was put on 1.25 of Bisporol ( when i never had high blood pressure) - they even tried to up it to 2.5. When i asked why the reply was "it cant hurt". The same drugs dont work for everyone so its important to listen to your body and discuss your options with your doctor.
The dose may be what you need unfortunately the side effects can be a problem. Sometimes it can be a matter of trial and error. I am on a cocktail of medication and apart from one of the blood thinners making me breathless so far so good. I know other people cannot say the same.I know that not all medical personal are perfect but I have utmost respect for them and am under no illusion that I know better than they do.
Have you spoken to a Dr about lowering the dose of bisoprolol because you may need to dose even though halving the dose may have taken away the side effects.
