I am expecting to need surgery soon nd was wondering how long people have been waiting? Is it safe if you wait long or it gets postponed?

Hello Seaguller, I'm afraid it's all too common at the moment for people to have their surgery postponed ( Covid etc ) It varies how long people get their surgery delayed for. From what people have told me, it can be up to 3 months
All I can suggest is that you ring your surgeon's secretary, and ask her to ask your surgeon under what circumstances your operation needs to be moved up the waiting list
( ie a change in symptoms, breathlessness, chest pain etc ) Then get confirmation from your surgeon, that if any of your new symptoms concern him, you will be brought in sooner, or in the last resort , as an emergency. Good luck, I hope you don't have to wait long.
Agree with @isobel1 about chasing the secretary and like you had a 3 month wait for my op last yr. A good oppirtunity to get your mind and body super fit though - i made sure I did loads of gentle exercise in the build up . .
Great advice. I only waited 6 weeks for my stent but in that time, I began healthy eating and started to come to terms with the fact that I'm not immortal. That took some mental gymnastics after years of partying , travelling and living life at a million miles an hour. Massive wake up call and a chance to start the next chapter in my adventure at a serene and dignified pace. Good luck OP
