Low energy

Feeling very weakened recently. My energy level appears to have dropped to what it was just after bypass. I’m feeling apprehensive about exercising now. Can anyone say if they’ve experienced this along the way. Thanks.

Hi have you had your bloods done recently? If not then might be worth requesting them, make sure they include Vitamin B levels.

I went through similar and blood tests showed that I was deficient in Vitamin B9 (Folate), I was put on Folic Tablets and was back to normal within days. For me it seems to have been caused by the PPI's which can cause malabsorption in some people.

Thanks for suggestion. Going to see cardiologist next week will mention this to him.

Hello AShaw,

Yes I have also found this dip in my energy levels. At first the nurse said it was not unusual, but then after some blood test they found that my thyroid function was off.

It is almost certainly due to the drug Amiodarone in my case. I have a meeting with the consultant next week and we will discuss this.

I think what I’m trying to say { a bit long winded, sorry } is that any change in your well-being should be reported.

Good luck and please let us know

Thank you. I’ll see what cardiologist has to say. I had an “episode” just after dip in energy level although ER checked me out and changed meds. The new meds and subsequent one don’t agree with me. I’m in limbo at the minute. So whatever slowed me down together with new meds has knocked me back. I’ll keep you posted. Really appreciate your comments.

Hello :-)

I had a triple Bypass 4 months ago

I am not sure I have ever got my energy levels back to be honest but I have just had a talk with my Doctor and they are going to just do a some blood tests to check my iron levels etc so I agree with others some routine blood tests might be a good way to make sure your iron levels etc are ok

My Rehab Nurse also told me in recovery you can have up's and down's how you feel which is very normal and reassuring

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on :-) x
