Hi Sez10,Sorry to hear you're experiencing chest pains.
I experienced chest pains 3 years ago. It turned out to be episodes of Non-sustained Ventricular Tachycardia (NSVT) or in simple terms an abnormal heart rhythm.
I know this as I was actually in hospital at the time hooked up to an ECG and they could see these episodes while I felt them.
However, there could be many reasons why you are experiencing chest pains.
After reading this reply please call 111 to talk it through with a health expert.
If you're feeling unwell with them and/or they are persistent I'd call 999 .
Better safe than sorry and hope I have not alarmed you.
Most replies on here to "Has anyone experienced XYZ" posts receive a "get it checked out" response.
Stay safe
Hi DaveTR, I got checked out in a+e yesterday, they gave me an aspirin & gtn spray. It did help a bit but it’s still niggling. I’ve also gone up on my bisoprolol 😐
Keep pressing for answers with your GP / Heart team.It could just be your heart muscle talking to you letting you know how hard it has been working before the DCM was diagnosed.
I found when I was first diagnosed I was super aware of every sensation and feeling all over my body.
All the best.
Sorry Sez10 I don’t suffer from your problem so I cannot comment,
but there was no way I was going to pass on your post without telling you that I have fallen madly in love with your dog in its Christmas jumper.
It made my day
Take care
I have DCM and AF, occasionally I have a pain in my chest when I lie on my left side. TBH I'm never sure if it's my heart or my lungs but it does dissipate fairly quickly. If you are suffering from chest pain regularly or its for a period of time I would get it checked out. xx
Hello, my husband doesn’t get chest pain with his DCM. As others have said it’s best to follow up your A&E visit with a call to your GP/cardiologist (via their secretary). It’s best to be proactive and in the meantime, keep a daily diary of how you’re feeling, when you get this pain, what it’s like, what you were doing before it came on, BP and heart rate if you’ve got a machine at home - some BP monitors also show a symbol if they detect irregular rhythms but you need monitoring over a period of time (24 hours +) to establish just what’s going on. And try not to worry too much in the meantime, it makes everything worse. Easy for me to say and hard to do though!
Best wishes to you and your loved ones.
Hi Sez10.I have HCM with obstruction opposed to dialated.
It was only picked up upon having a cardiac MRI.
Won't bore you with my history, it's on my profile, but just wanted to say, GTN spray is totally ineffective for dealing with chest pain/angina in patients withHCM, according to my Consultant at a top leading Heart Hospital.
Now I don't know about DCM . . It may/or not be the case, but if you're saying your GTN isn't helping, you might want to look into this.
Hope you get it resolved.
