Hi Ted, if you put Myxoma in search above, it will show all previous messages about the subject, hopefully someone can help, I also have a Myxoma, mine is in my thigh muscle, worrying but obviously not the same, good luck with your operation, and fingers crossed for a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹. ….. Val

Hi Val. Thank you for replying. I did look at earlier posts but could not find the info. Plus I guess it varies from person to person. I will call the bhf nurse helpline.I hope all goes very well for you and you get treatment soon. Cheers. Ted

Hi Ted!I had an atrial myxoma removed back in May. I guess it depends on your level of fitness but I would say I am back to pre op fitness/energy! If I can answer any more questions please let me know!

Hi Sadie. Thank you so much for replying. It seems like the myxomans are a rarer group of people. I am trying to get an idea of when I could be back to work as a window cleaner. I dont use ladders, just a pole. It is quite physical and I am trying to give my customers an idea of how long an absence it would be. Do you think 3 months is possible. Thanks. Aelred

Thats my name. I just picked Ted cos they said not to use a real name as an identity

Hi Aelred! I think everyone is different, but I would maybe suggest slightly longer if you have a physical job like that! I would imagine that it works your chest quite a bit? I think by about 12 weeks the sternum is healed (if you’re having open heart surgery) but you may find your chest is still tender for some time after! Mine doesn’t affect me now but I do notice tenderness still now and then! Sorry I can’t be much help in that sense, I was pregnant when I had my op and went from sick leave to maternity straight after so I was taking it relatively easy in terms of physicality!

Thanks again Sadie. That must have been such an ordeal to have been pregnant whilst having a huge op.

You have been very helpful.

All the best. Aelred
