Hello. I'm new to this particular Community although I frequently post in the AF Community. I am due a Mitral valve TAVI next week providing the cellulitis I currently have has gone. From experience please can you tell me the recovery time expected. It won't be done open heart.

Recovery time for TAVI
Hello and welcome to the forum! In reality you are asking a "how long is a piece of string" question. Mick Jagger, for instance, resumed touring less than three months after his TAVI procedure but he has always been exceptionally fit. For the average person it could be twice as long. I imagine someone who has had the procedure will be along with a better answer later but probably not Mick himself! 🌝
That's a shame. I would have welcomed a response from Mick! My Consultant seems to think I will be back to work in a week but I have to say I am sceptical. My job doesn't entail Jumping Jack Flash or Little Red Rooster either, I am quite sedentary!
He is in a different league from us but insurance requires him to have a doctor on stand by while he performs.

Yes I saw this in today's Mail On Sunday! I may not be able to afford a Cardiologist to be with me always but I wouldn't swap my NHS Consultants for the world!
He had his TAVI within days. I had a 16 month wait for my tissue aortic valve.
I was diagnosed when trying to get on a trial for a new hypertension treatment. They offered to replace the valve but suggested that logistically I might be better having it nearer home in East Sussex. Then I ran into long waiting times between tests and appointments and finally my referral to the Royal Sussex not being sent.
Did you have it done in Brighton . I was admitted last year for two valve repairs, a replacement, a cardioversion and ended up with a pacemaker too! The expected length of stay was a week and I was in for 7
Yes in Brighton by Mr Trevidi in 2012. One bypass patient was out in six days I was in for eleven as I had fluid in my lung post operation and had to have it drained. I also went into AF after the operation and the cardioversion failed. I did not need a pacemaker until about four years later.
Worst part apart from the food was on day two when two Physio's dragged me out of bed and walked me the length of the corridor and up two flights of stairs and back to my bed. It was made worse by it being a really hot day.
I had a TAVI for a new aortic valve about 4 years ago. I was in my late 70s and bounced back from the surgery, leaving hospital after three nights and going back to my usual fairly active life almost immediately (but I am no Rolling Stone).
