A diagnosis finally!

Not written in a while but just wanted to let all you lovely compassionate and helpful guys know that I’ve finally been diagnosed with AF as well as supra ventricular heart beats and heart flutters . I have also (with the help from my GP) given up my BP meds as it has been fine if not better without them. I’m now on edoxaban 60mg and that is the only medication I take. The electrophysiologist visit was great and he explained everything in detail, that it will probably worsen with age etc (I’m 55) but I feel very blessed and lucky when I read some of the stories on here and wish you all the best of luck.. Thank you for all your support along the way since March. I feel a little more content that’s it’s electrical and not mechanical. He’s sending me for a CT scan in January to be sure but he’s very confident that he won’t find anything untoward. It may have taken a while but they got there in the end. Thank you NHS! 😊

Hi nanaeli. Pleased you are feeling so cheered by your diagnosis. Sometimes just knowing what we are dealing with is a good thing. Also support from the NHS and your GP is invaluable. Good luck with your ct scan in January and enjoy Christmas x

I spoke too soon. I’ve been feeling a bit strange today, but I got woken up three times (10 minutes apart) this morning, with a low heart rate? It was 49,47 then 49 again? Should I be concerned. I actually dropped the grandchildren off at school and within an hour felt quite fuzzy and extremely tired so went for a lie down. My HR is usually between 55-65 at rest so quite low anyway. I’m not sure how many times it has to be too low to warrant getting checked. I have the usual on and off chest pain but no different to previous times. I’m actually fed up with listening to myself, honestly it seems there’s always something these days. Any advice please x

Hey nanaeli I don’t think you have anything to worry about. What do you use to measure your heart?, also check you blood pressure as well. My other question is are you feeling the symptoms during the episodes. Honestly I think the best course of action and am not sure if you have done so before or not is get 72 hr holter monitor to see how low your heart rate get and how many and how long the pauses are. And regarding the heart rate yea it’s low but not dangerously low. When I did my holter monitor my lowest heart rate captured was 37 bpm and the doctors didn’t think it was as alarming as my maximum of 168 bpm.

But I’m also on a lot of medication to try and control the rate

Hope my comment helps

And I hope you feel better and wish you nothing but the best 🌹
