Hi all, I've seen a few posts on here from people saying that they are leaving due to posts they don't agree with, I wonder how these folk cope in "real life" with people whose views on life differ from theirs?
I've only been a member for 5 months, I joined in a panic one night to express my feelings/fears the day I'd been discharged from hospital following an angioplasty, the replies I received were really beneficial and helped me greatly.
I'm not a "regular" contributer, but I do look at the forum every day and I have learned a lot about my condition and physical and emotional feelings since my HA from the excellent contributers to this forum.
I've got to say it's a brilliant resource and in my view it's very well moderated forum.
As I noted earlier I'm not going anywhere, thank you
If you have read the posts where people have said they are leaving they are from people who are suffering from anxiety and find the posts (especially the anti vacc posts) are causing them stress.
I'm glad you are are not leaving, I wish those who have said they are were strong enough to stay sadly they are not finding this site good for their health.
I find it INCREDIBLY sad they find themselves in this situation.
THIS is not real life, this is a choice whether to stay or leave.
They are not leaving because they don't agree with a post (let's get it right) they are leaving because they find some of the posts stressful.
I am glad you have found the site helpful and supportive, I know those that are leaving did to and some of them have been here longer than 5 months and have been helpful and supportive to others.
If an individual finds a particular post stressful, then the simple solution is to ignore it. As with people who are being "bullied" on social media, just come off it. At the end of the day this is a forum for people who are suffering from heart disease, not anxiety. There will always be contentious issues discussed on any forum, this one is mild compared to some I can assure you. Most of the sources of this problem have been over the recent anti Vax threads, but in reality they have just been robust debates and there has been a lot of correct information put forward from many members that should have reassured most people. There are misguided idiots in many other walks of life trying to promote anti vax propaganda, you cannot hide away from them unfortunately, the only solution is to seek out the truth and many members on here have provided that information. I have great sympathy with people who suffer from genuine anxiety but as has been said that is probably in general life and maybe forums such as this are not for them if they find them disturbing?
Just a thought maybe we should just ignore the posts that aren’t relevant or we feel are trying to cause issues on the site and stay with the posts which are informative and helping us along our journey.
It is in all honesty isn't it, if you don't like it stop reading and move on rather than making a song and dance about it and all this "I'm leaving" tosh.

All I can say is that we seem to be having a good old debate here, over the original post, which is a cracker. Not sure if anyone is getting anxious but I note that none of the usual people who complain about other people's comments are taking part or indeed ever take part in such threads other than to have a pop at individuals. Supafil always has controversial ideas that get criticised but he doesn't throw his rattle out the pram.
Well said JohnH - there are so many decent people here willing to give their time and share their own experiences, as well as their knowledge. Glad u be have found support here.
Agree about the value of the site and (most of) its contributors. Nobody has to leave something because occasionally something annoys/upsets them - most of the time I find all contributions helpful and interesting. Glad you are going nowhere! You can always post if there is something in particular that you object to, otherwise forget about it and concentrate on the very many helpful threads. I find this a valuable resource and it has reduced my feelings of isolation and anxiety
I am aware of two people with heart and anxiety issues who have decided to leave. Maybe I missed others, I also do remember that parts of the threads they were contributing to, did become pretty strident. My guess is that they found this upsetting.
Anxiety is often a big part of our heart journey. I would prefer that they hadn’t felt the need to leave.
I oh so agree with you, I for one believe the mamby pamby pc world we are now forced to endure is the reason for a lot of us olduns having heart problems!
In my life a spade has always been a spade and a shovel a shovel, thank heavens that I am very much into the twilight years of my life!
Pleased that you are sticking around John. The value of this forum is immense. We can never fully know how our words of (hopefully) encouragement help others. Even though I am basically "fixed", I have found it most useful.... how much more so those really in need of support?
Unfortunately the issues that arise on this forum from time to time are standard forum fare. Thankfully the moderation applied is excellent. 😀
Good morning John. Yes I agree with everything you said. Just scroll on by if you don't like comments. We all have different views and will never agree on everything. Hope you keep as well as possible and take care. Brian
You’re totally right to stay so am I it would be a boring world if we all agreed on the same things. Everyone is entitled to their own point of view whether we agree on not is a different matter, but to leave just because you don’t agree just don’t reply to the post if you don’t agree! I had a heart attack last year and it has been great to know there is so many of us out there who are able to help one way or another for us to accept a new normal and be a bit more patient.
