Hi everyone, I’ve recently started a course with a nutritionist as I’m looking to make any further changes to my diet that could help keep my CHD in check and help with general well being too. One thing she suggested is to take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before each meal. She is aware of my meds so sure she’s checked but when I did a google search I wasn’t clear on the conclusion - is it ok to take apple cider vinegar when also taking ramipril? Just wondered if others on here take the vinegar?
Thankyou

I don't see why not. It's just vinegar, a natural healthy item. If she told you it is good for blood pressure, great, add it in, it's not going to put you into a too low bp situation, 'cause if it did, skip the ramapril and take the vinegar and I am sure that wasn't the suggestion. My opinion . I take ACV on my salad everyday.
I take daily Ramipril. Then cider vinegar when gout flares up. The cider is disgusting, so it must be doing me some good.

Vicky don't know about cider vinegar but I have a neurological condition as well as PAF and take a tablet for nerve pain. I can't have grapefruit or anything that contains grapefruit juice . It's funny how some foods can affect tablets.
I have trouble with potassium in my blood and been following a low potassium diet for 10 years. I was amazed at what foods are high in potassium who would have thought tomatoes and mushrooms where on the list. As they are both mainly water.
A friend of mine takes that . She is on medication for other things I will let her know about it. She doesn't read all the information that comes with tablets. Thank you for the warning.
The only thing I would say about apple cider vinegar is, I am aware of its health benefits but when I’ve taken it it’s not long before I end up in the Dentist’s chair! It can really attack your teeth so I’d just say, proceed with caution. As someone who has a replacement valve, looking after my teeth can be an expensive business. Beat of luck. Sue 🙏
Yes apple cider vinegar is highly regarded in the health food fraternity. I’m a glutton for health theories I take apple cider vinegar daily and ramipril with no problems.I would suggest taking any supplements separately from your medications just an hour or so to avoid any local stomach interaction.
Firstly, ACV can interfere with medications that control blood sugar and potassium levels, among others, so the medication PIL and your GP should be consulted prior to taking it. Secondly, no more than a tablespoon should be taken, before a meal, and always diluted with water to avoid acid erosion to the teeth and oesophagus. Many people add a little honey to improve the taste, which will dissolve if the water used is warm. Any supplementation of this sort which can do harm as well as good should be researched and used wisely.
