I have been on ramipril 5mg for 2 weeks and my blood pressure has gone up. Should I carry on or ask to change.

Ramipril
Is it steadily lower, across a good few measures? If yes, you could ask your GP what their view is.
Hi Mazri,
I would advise your GP that this is happening. The same occurred when I was prescribed a particular blood pressure medication.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
I would suggest you do not stop them without medical advice as your BP could rebound dangerously. But do contact your GP tomorrow and in case of difficulty. There is a vast array of BP medications out there but it can take a while to home in on the right one for you.
Hi Mazri,I would discuss this with your GP or Heart Team.
Any change of meds should be discussed with the professionals.
How often do you take your BP are you sure you are in a totally relaxed state when you take it.. it’s unlikely the ramipril will increase it.
Thank you Mazri, Ramipril normally lowers the blood pressure. Hence it is unlikely to be the cause of raised blood pressure. All drugs take a short while to have their full effect. Please seek your doctors advice. Regards.
Hi Mazri,
Always consult your GP. Could be some other underlying issue causing this. When are you taking them during the day, I am on 10mg and was told to take them before bed.
Are you on any other meds with the ramipril?
What were your readings?
