Hi All

I had my heart attack in February 2018 and had one stent fitted, spent 3 days in hospital then sent home.In May I then went for a MRI to check my heart because doc thinks I have HOCM but scan had to stop half way through because of problems with my breathing.I saw a rehab nurse twice, on the second visit she changed the dose of one of the tablets im taking and asked me if im doing ok,i said yes to which she then told me she was discharging me,i feel really let down as I keep reading on here that people are seeing their rehab nurse and are doing excercises and having meetings with other heart patients to discuss their worries,i feel really on my own and don't know what is happening with me as I haven't seen anybody since the MRI scan.I dont even really know what is wrong with my heart ,all I do know is they had to put one stent into a artery on the left hand side and they think I have HOCM,it seems a long time not being seen by any doctor or nurse to let me know what to expect,,sorry for the long post but im worried...

Hi Jasppip

Hope you are starting to feel better and hope you do get to do the rehab, I have read that it does help and yes please let me know,,, I feel like I have been put to one side and just left to sort myself out, I tried ringing the hospital to speak to the consultant who carried out my surgery but was told he had left and is now working in Bristol,the girl on the phone said she did,nt know who was taking over my caseand said just wait for a letter,,

Doesn't sound very organised I suppose coz they see heart attack people all the time they think it's nothing yet to us who have them it's the scariest thing ever to happen and you just want reassurance and help to get back to your old self

Go see your go who will have results from hospital and maybe put your mind at rest. Good luck honey

Hi Shoshov

Have spoken to my gp who says he is waiting for paperwork from hospital,it all seems to be dragging out for too long leaving me with no answers,i hope you are well;;;

Oh what a shame. It's really not good enough to be treated like this. I think you have to hold onto the fact they're not in any hurry with results which I would like to believe means there's nothing needing to be done urgently. Keep the faith. But keep pestering them all. If nothing else you'll really miff them off. Shiona

I can sympathise. I had a heart attack Dec2016, a thrombectomy and subsequent discovery of a pfo. I had one follow up appointment with cardiac nurse who then discharged me. Had absolutely no rehab whatsoever.

Hi GillMac1

Hope that you got over it and are feeling as well as can be, its all such a shock,i swore blind I only had a bad case of heartburn(just goes to show how much I know) but that's my point its 6months on and im none the wiser.It seems whoever I talk to all they tell me is; you have got to wait; that's fine for them but just waiting is putting more stress on me

Hi I went to cardiac rehab assessment today and although I'm not allowed to start it yet due to few niggles I've been getting it really is something you should press for they are brilliant so reassuring and have direct access to the cardiologist and when I do get to go which is hopefully September it's going to be great to do exercise in a controlled environment. The cardiac nurse did say at some hospitals they have a waiting list but thankfully mine hasn't

I have had a very similar experience . I initially felt so left and alone . I was offered 2 rehab appointments and it was suggested I could have gone to rehab classes but because I live about 35 miles from where the classes take place I wasn’t able to access them . ( No public transport and not allowed to drive soon after ha . )the nurses were lovely but rushed and not really available on the phone my gp is impossible to see and the consultant was a 3 month wait . It has been a real battle to get answers re my progress / diagnosis treatment plan etc . I read posts on here and are amazed at some of the support people get via the nhs . I think it is very dependant on where you live . I really appreciate the treatment in I have had so far but definitely felt confused and lonely and frightened re being ‘ left ‘ . My ha was April I feel bit better now but took 3 emergency visits to get meds sorted for chest pain I have only had since the ha . I now rely on info on here mostly to guide me it was this page that gave me confidence to push my consultant to provide a test ( stress mri ) to hopefully get some kind of diagnosis and foward plan . Sorry it’s such a long post do hope you soon feel a bit more confidant and supported . X

Hi There

Thanks for taking the time to reply,it really does help ,even though we are all strangers it makes me feel like I have a lot of new friends now who have been through what I have .Re rehab I was told because they think I may have HOCM doing the excercises could do more harm than good,but they told me to walk at least 4 miles a day,,i know it does,nt sound a lot but I also have discs problems and sciatica which limits any walking I can do. I asked about some kind of exercise I could do at home but the nurse just dismissed the matter and then discharged me. I agree with you about the NHS being very busy and i too am very grateful for the treatment I have had, but we should,nt have to read a posting on a web page to get the answers we deserve..X
