Leaky heart valve and flying

Hello,

I was diagnosed 4 months ago with a moderately leaky tricuspid valve, and an intermediate probability of pulmonary hypertension with a pressure level of 32.

I am due to fly to france in July (only a 1.5 hour flight), but I'm scared that the pressure will make my condition worse. My cardiologist doesn't seem worried about me flying, but I wondered if anyone else had any experience/advice?

Thanks,

Hannah

I have had an extremely severe leaky tricuspid valve for many years and flown a lot including to China and India from the uk. No problems. If your cardio. is ok with it I would go .

Thank you! How are you feeling with your valve?

It does not trouble me .I have AF and have 'periodic' attacks that go on/off for months then nothing for a year or two.I have other heart issues that seem to concern the cardios more than the tricuspid valve. The docs . do not usually operate on the tricuspid valve to clip or replace the valve unless they are doing other heart surgery atthe same time. I was warned off it anyway ...partly due to age... and risk of a perhaps unnecessary surgeryThey even said they did not rec. the Tavi method(look it up) as if the procedure is not going well they will opt for Open Heart surgery during the middle of the Tavi! Do get good professional advice before going down the surgical road on tricuspid surgery. It is quite a grey area.
