Hi all. Have just been prescribed dapagliflozin 10mg once a day along side usual h/f medication in vluding lower does of Entresto. Does anyone on here take this medication? If so what are the effects good and bad. I had a triple bypass in April of this year and have an EF of 35%. Thanks in advance. Seantemp58
Dapagliflozin.: Hi all. Have just been... - British Heart Fou...
Dapagliflozin.
i have been on it a few months .....sweet pees
Hi, ive been on it about 6 months, along with top dose entresto, 10 mg bisoprolol and sprironolactone. Thankfully it doesn’t affect blood pressure, some days I feel really tired seems since starting it, consultant said unlikely but could be down to my other medications as on high doeses-apart from that I have no other symptoms.can’t say I feel any different but it could be doing something inside without me knowing.
I’ve been on Dapagliflozin for a couple of months now and, like Eastwood25, can’t say I feel any different either but hopefully it’s doing some good to me. One downside is that I have mild symptoms of thrush - which I control by use of Canestan.
Hello
Forxiga or Dapagliflozin is the new flavour of the month it seems, my Heart Nurse wants to start me on it in addition to the mid dose of Entresto and in my case 7.5mg Bisorolol. 10mg Bisoprolol brought my Heart Rate down to 33bpm so Cardiologist put it to 7.5 and now HR around 45/50bpm. It appears that mid dose of Entresto is as far as I can go, BP can be low around 85/45 but normally in the 100/50 50 range.
I have face to face with GP today to investigate cough before going on Dapagliflozin as heart Nurse wants it sorted prior to starting on new regime !!!
ps my EF is 40 but still breathless on mild exercise!!!
regards
I was on the top dose of Entresto for a few years, but was dropped to the middle dose a year ago when I was put on dapagliflozin.I feel fine apart from the strange smell from my urine. No other complaints, although, coincidentally I’ve been diagnosed as diabetic (Type 2), so would have been prescribed dapagliflozin anyway even if I didn’t have heart failure.
Hello seantemp58 - I am on a "double blind trial" for dapagliflozin, so could be a placebo or dapagliflozin. I am on a cocktail of many other drugs so it would be difficult to tell what effect dapagliflozin is doing even if I was taking the actual drug.
I was given dapagliflozin a couple of days after a Stemi Heart Attack in early April this year.
This with the hope of an improved injection fraction from 35%, apparentley this could only improves the EF for the first six weeks after the HA and now at 6 months or so my EF remains at 35%. So I either have been given the placebo or dapagliflozin didn't work for me.
Are you part of a drug trial for dapagliflozin?
I was told it was only licensed in the UK for other ailments not Cardiac problems - hence the trial.
2.5 years from now..think I am missing something or misunderstanding. If they know the drug can only improve EF within 6 weeks of HA then why not take me off the trial now? Maybe they are looking for something else in the remainig trial time. Will talk to my Prof?
Thanks for your reply.
Of course, may be a week or two as I know he is on leave.
