Morning all, after over four months of seeing various specialists talking to my GP (note not face to face because of Covid) and ten visits to A&E the medicos seem to have agreed what is the problem.
The original angina diagnosis was shown to be false as a later CTCA scan showed my arteries were pretty good for a man in mid 60s. So I was taken off nitrates and aspirin. This meant I could stop lansoprazole which was messing up my digestive system. I am now being treated for high blood pressure which is down to 120/80 avg with the amlodipine. Cholesterol is improving due to statins. I take both meds in the evening.
I did have a bad episode recently which had all the symptoms of a stroke but after 24 hours in neurology it was considered to have been a mimic stroke caused by a migraine. No headache but a load of other symptoms. I now have to watch out for and log triggers that bring on headaches or numbness. Never had migraine so wonder if the nitrates have been a cause? Computer screen time seems to be the biggest trigger.
I am now getting more exercise, an hour or so a day. This sometimes comes with twinges in the left side of my chest but GP assured me it’s not my heart and may be a nerve or muscular pain. I still get tired and need a day time snooze which does help. I have to lose weight and get my BMI down to 25-30 currently 32. GP tells me losing weight will give me more energy along with a good diet
So that’s been my story. It’s still ongoing but I wanted to say how good this forum has been to share concerns and thanks to all who have responded calmly and politely. You’re all great people and many obviously worse off than me. Good luck to you all.
