Hi has anybody changed from one to another. I was fine with Bisoprolol Not sure why it has changed
Has anybody been swapped from Bisopro... - British Heart Fou...
Has anybody been swapped from Bisoprolol to Ranolazine
I have taken both in recent months. In my case, BS reduced my heart rate to around 60 at rest. That's it's main role, to protect the heart by making it slow down. In doing so, it usually reduces your BP. This can help reduce angina
Because my BP was pretty low anyway, reducing it further gave me problems because my BP sometimes got as low as 80/60. The cardiologist recommended coming off BS (gradually). My BP recovered to around 110/70
Ranolazine is specifically an anti angina med. I believe it is supposed to have less of a lowering effect on BP than "normal" anti angina meds (nitrates, nicorandil etc).
It looks as if your doctor thinks you are in some way intolerant to BS as an anti anginal med, so is prescribing Ranolazine. I have to say in my case, the side effects were awful.
Thank you for the replyI hope,I dont have any side effects I am struggling with fatigue at the moment. I also work a lot of hours, cardiologist suggested I give up work! What do you currently take or are you still on both?
