Hello, I was told I had to take it due to me taking 75g aspirin as I don't stomach problems or reflux. I have put on over a stone in the last 10 months which I find had to shift. I checked the NHS website and saw the warning about having to tell doctor if you are on clopidogrel! The doctor prescribed both at the same time. I am now on Edoxoban due to my heart failure getting worse due to the wrong BP tablet dosage & other treatments.

I sometimes think they must get a bung from the pharmaceutical companies if they don't check what they dole out and the effects on patients.

My understanding is that doctors prescribe Lansoprazole to protect the stomach against adverse effects from Clopidogrel and aspirin.

I don't take the soluble aspirin, I take the gastro-resistent coated ones which I buy myself, which the doctor said was fine. She could not understand why I didn't get NHS supplied one as I don't pay for prescriptions though.

Hi Meenzer why not ask your Doctor to add the Aspirin to your regular NHS Prescription then ?

It is on my regular list but just the soluble ones. I think why charge the NHS for them when I can buy the coated ones over the counter for less than a cup of Costa coffee.

Very true. I think of all the contributions I have made for sixty odd years and think I deserve a packet of Aspirin 🤔🙂

I do the same Menzer, always feel a bit cheeky asking for 75mg aspirin on prescription.

I used to take omeprazole for reflux but since my bypass I'm on lansoprazole for both reflux and due to the regular aspirin.

It's great that you're doing your bit to save the NHS money! When they first put me on aspirin, they didn't mention Lansoprazole; it was only when they added Clopidogrel to my regular prescription that they said I should take Lazoprazole as well, so I'm guessing that's the one that's more likely to affect your stomach.

Hello, I was 75mg aspirin for 10 months with no mention of Lansoprazole either so it was the same for me when they added Clopidogrel. Now I am on Edoxaban instead & the 75mg Aspirin. I have to speak to the anticoagulation dept on the telephone this week so they might enlighten me.

I am also on clopidogrel as well , I was on Omeprazole but they said they didn’t work together so they changed to lansoprazole and the weight went up

Hi 6kkr. I've put on nearly 2 stone since my HA 2 years ago, but I've always thought it was the beta-blockers or ACE inhibitors (I'm still on 8 different drugs) rather than the Lansoprazole.
