Because of muscle pain my statins have been changed from Atorvastatin 80mg to Simvastatin. Just wondering what side effects anyone has had from this new one I'm now on

Side effects from Simvastatin
Hello... Personally I feel your approach is somewhat wrong. With any new medication it is worth reading the PIL (Patient Information Leaflet) so you are aware of any possible interactions with other drugs and/or foods, and any possible side effects. Then put the side effects to the back of your mind and start your medication. If side effects occur you may decide to live with them if mild (when I started on Bisoprolol I used to get a split second of dizziness after picking up dog poo) or to raise them with your GP/ cardiologist. Don't go looking for them.
I had muscle pain (particularly in the shoulders) with Simvastatin but this disappeared with a change to Atorvastatin. Others on the forum have done the same change, and others the reverse, with success. Hopefully the chang will resolve your issues. If not there are three other statins to try.
I'd probably get dizzy if I had to pick up dog poo, particularly if it was a bit loose. Fortunately, I don't have a dog
I had to change from atorvastatin to simvastatin and now have no side effects at all
Hi... I was the complete opposite. Simvastatin caused me awful muscle pain and weakness but I seem fine on Atorvastatin. Everyone's different so just wait and see and hopefully you'll be fine
I have had Simvastatin for 7 years with other tablets. I have some things now and again but could not say if to do with one or more tables. Most are no worse than before staring on the tablets except the Gout. I do at times have aching elbows but put that down to doing less lifting then carrying my groceries home.
Been on Simvastatin since 2008. No side affects whatsoever.
