I am now 5 1/2 weeks in since my STEMI with 2 stents fitted, 2 subsequent hospital stays to get the meds balanced to reduce fluid my body was retaining.
Finally at the end of last week I began to feel that I was turning the corner, feeling stronger, Ramipril cough had started easing, even managed to et more than 4 hours unbroken sleep a night..........
Then BANG.. Friday night only 1 1/2 hour sleep and coughing like a barking dog again, last night 2 hours sleep, cough is back with full vengeance and I feel like I have been hit by a bus. BP/Heart Rate/Blood Oxygen Levels/Weight all stable from the last few weeks.
Has anybody else experienced the same thing?
I will be speaking to the Cardiac Rehab Nurse tomorrow.
thank you for any feedback.

Hi Carl. No I have been fine with the ha drugs but I’m wondering if maybe that’s due to the fact I take a lot of co codamol? I know that this painkiller can relax the throat and therefore you don’t cough as much. Anyway it’s something to think about isn’t it .
My first BP medication was Ramipril. The associated cough kept me awake at night..... and my good lady wife! It was changed, then changed again to Losartan which I have been on for over a decade without any issues whatsoever.
There are other medications in the same class as Ramipril, so your GP might prescribe one of those.
