Hi guys , ive just had open heart surgery for mitral valve repair 2 weeks ago , and was feeling better every day then about a week later felt really bad and got worse for next 2 days, doc sent me back to hospital where they discovered fluid around my heart , a drain was put in to take as much out as they could, returning 1.2 litre of fluid , once the drain was removed I felt better but only when in bed , the minute I get out of bed my heart rate shoots up to 180 then immediately goes back to roughly 90 to 100 within a few minutes , this is now getting me down as I tjot after the major heart op and fluid release I would be good to go , the cardiologists dont seem to know why this is happening and is the only thing keeping me in hospital now which I appreciate and understand , anyone had or have the same conditions as it is now getting me down where I was very up beat after the initial big surgery, thank for any reply

Sorry to hear you are having such problems after your op. Hopefully they'll be able to get to the bottom of it so that you can get home and get on with your recovery. The only problem I had after my second AVR was I developed complete heart block and had to have a pacemaker fitted. At least you're in the best place to get it sorted. I can appreciate how frustrating it is, but try to stay positive and look forward to getting g home.

Unfortunately I don’t have any experience of this but really felt for you when I read your post. Frustrating and distressing when you don’t know what the cause is. I truly hope you can get to root of this very soon as you were clearly making such a good recovery. Stay positive. You’ll get to that place again. Best wishes to you
