Hi,

Can you take frusemide tablets at any time of day. Hubby always takes them in a morning but the afternoon would be a lot better. Thanks

"3. How to take Furosemide Tablets

Always take Furosemide tablets exactly as your doctor has instructed you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure."

Have to be honest & say I take Furosemide twice a day, 1st dose when I get up in the morning and the 2nd at about lunchtime. From experience I certainly wouldn't have them after about 1-30pm.

Thanks for your reply. My husband takes a tablet in the morning but working in transport it’s hard sometimes to find a toilet. He’s gets home at lunch time so it’s easier to take it then.

If that is the case then I would agree. My problem is I have to take 160mg which is why I split it but if I am late then often I am still going at 7/8pm

At the moment he only takes 40mg and it normally works for about an hour or so. Thank you

I usually take it in the morning. If I have to go anywhere I skip it (rarely), or take it when I return

I was on a 40mg daily Furosemide tablet taken after breakfast & I told Cardiac Nurse my issues with needing to pee quite a lot during morning activities. She said I could change to taking any time up to about 2pm (ideally not later) to fit in with my lifestyle. She subsequently dropped my dose down to 20mg (so effects not as bad) after consultation with my GP.

I am on Spironolactone and Furosemide. I take the Spiro when I get up which can vary in time and Furosemide 6 hours later, whenever that's likely to be. According to my pharmacist you can take it at any time to suit you but don't leave it too late or you could be up peeing all night.

When I had my recent cardiac surgery I was put on 40mg of Furosemide daily. The nurse Tod be so long as I take it before 4pm it was ok otherwise I risked having to get up in the night.
