I have had several falls in recent months. I have no body strength and my wife has to help me shower dress and sometimes help me get up from a chair. I can now only walk short distances when I go out for my daily walk and feel very tired and weak all the time. When alone if I fall I stay on the ground because my body has no strength to get up.
After falls in August and October 2020 I was hospitalised for a night and they said it was postural hypotension. My GP surgery did not seem to know what to do because normally I have high blood pressure. They changed my medication a couple of times but in January 2021 referred me to Neurology and Cardio Hospital Teams.
I had tests in May 2021 with the Cardio team. A 24 hour ECG monitor, A 24 hour BP Monitor and a Cardio Echo Gram. I then had a telephone appointment with a Cardiologist. He said my symptoms are not cardio and almost certainly Neurological. He said my blood pressure was high but he did not want to adjust medication until I have been assessed by a Neurologist.
He has requested a Tilt Test but it is not urgent and so there will be long delay.
I have been waiting since January for a Neurology appointment since January and
now my June appointment has been postponed until July.
I have been put on the list for a cancellation.?
Has anyone experienced a similar story to mine?
I am puzzled? Could a Neurological condition have caused the postural hypotension?
Any advice or input welcome
Thanks
Steve
