Clopidogrel forever

I had signs of angina a year ago. On Verapamil, Atorvastin and Clopidogrel. Cholesterol at 4.9. Keeping well all year with no need for Nitro spray since. Exercise every day even slight hills. Do you think it is worth contacting the cardiologist regarding stopping Clopidogrel now or any others? I did not need an Angiogram last year as the hospital felt I was not needing one.

Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medication. It helps prevent blood clots that could result in a heart attack or stroke.

Your angina was a sign that your coronary arteries have some plaque build up. The medications won't reverse this and for many it is a progressive disease, so the reasons for the original prescription probably still hold true. There are alternatives to clopidogrel though, including 75mg aspirin, so if there is a specific reason you want to come off the clopidogrel, your GP can probably advise.

This is not medical advice though, I'm not an expert. So don't cease or change any medication without discussing it with your GP first. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. Will try to talk to the cardiologist regarding this.

You should have a medication review after a year. Ask your GP or cardiologist why you are on drugs. We can only tell you what they do.
