Hi, I have previously suffered two HA’s and received a stent in April last year. I am really fit and regularly walk 10-12 miles a day. I also exercise with weights a couple of days a week. Over the last 2-3 weeks I’ve noticed that I’ve started getting chest pain. I suffer with GERD so can’t really distinguish between heart and reflux. About 10 days ago I spent a night in hospital with the chest pains. My blood troponin test was 7 on both occasions and ECG normal. A few days after being released I was readmitted this time for three days and had an exercise stress test which was normal. All the above tests were also done again and were all normal. I’m now struggling to walk any real distance without chest pain? If I attended hospital every time I had these symptoms I’d be there everyday.
I’d just like to find out if anyone else had any similar symptoms and results?

It sounds like you need a suitable test to determine how good the blood supply is to the heart. After I had a heart attack, they put me on a stress ECG machine for 10 mins, and pronounced me OK. 10 mins is not the same as vigorous exercise for an hour. trying to build up to a decent level proved impossible for me because of tiredness and chest pain.
The 2 tests I had were a stress echocardiogram and a myocardial perfusion scan which the cardiologist used to diagnose angina.
Currently I am taking suitable anti angina pills and so far it's an improvement.
They are going to do an angiogram to see if any further intervention is needed. The angiogram is the gold standard for diagnosing the state of your arteries, but they are often reluctant to do it since it's interventional and therefore has some (low) risk.
You do need to get it sorted, because if it is angina, it can point to another MI
I have an appointment with a cardiologist and hopefully an angiogram will be arranged. It’s been a really stressful time waiting and worrying that I’ll have another HA.
