Diltiazem and other meds

Hi, consultant has changed my meds. Told me to come off the beta blockers and go into Diltiazem. I know these tablets have to be taken twice a day, 12 hours apart. I always take my Ranexa and levothyroxine first thing in the morning. I then take aspirin about 1.5 hours later. I have ferrous gluconate at 11am and then my other Ranexa at lunchtime. Atorvastatin at bedtime. If I take Diltiazem at 8am and 8pm will this affect any other meds? No guidance from consultant and nothing on package / paperwork in box to help!

Hi, I've had similar thoughts on my medications, and even after searching, found no advice. The only way I can gauge the timings of when to take my various meds, similar to yours, is that when I was recently an in patient on a cardiac HDU, following stent insertion, is that they gave me all my meds to take in one go, at around 8.00 am. I hope this helps?

Thank you. I find it really strange that we are given these crazy meds but no advice as to when to take them!

I agree 100%, it's scary enough getting a diagnosis of heart disease after always being fit, but all this happening during lockdown, and being fitted with stents and given lots of medication, with minimal support, has been an experience I don't want to repeat 😔

I’m on Diltiazem after splitting I now take the 2 tablets together at 8 am . All has been well as a result . My gp told me once a day is what is should be . As yourself it suits me fine because of fitting in other meds .

Thanks for this. So you take the ranazoline 12 hours apart too as this isn't explained in instructions 🤔

I don’t take other related heart meds. My others are Levo and lio Plus vits So not the same as yourself

I will say taking the 2 together has controlled my symptoms just the same as when I took twice a day for a while .

Hope that helps
