Fast bpm after ecg

Dollydaydream108 profile image

Hi, I had a heart attack in December had a stent fitted been doing OK but resently getting breathless and chest irritation. So had a ecg fitted for 48 hours and results show my heart is racing at some points over 120 bpm then drops to under 60bpm. So don't know what they will do. Anyone had this and able to give me some advice please.

Perhaps ring BHF nurses for advice?

Just thought friends here could help as they just say wait for them to contact you

If they don't call you soon, please call the BHF nurses. Don't leave it too long since you recently had a HA. Everyone's busy especially since there's a pandemic. You look out for yourself as things tend to get forgotten.

Best wishes.

That's the thing isn't it?Has it been two three days? If yes, just go ahead and call. Don't bother to second guess them.

At least u must know what comes next. If this is some kind of arrhythmia, u want to get it sorted quickly and not let it escalate, especially since u are experiencing symptoms.

Some kind of what. Don't understand that word.

arrhythmia = irregular heart rhythm

Hi, not had that but you should chase the cardiac team up for sure. Does the increased heart rate tie in with any particular time of day or activity or even mood, after meals etc let them know even if there’s no tie up.

You have to remember that most in here are not medically trained and can only relate to what we have read or gone through ourselves.

Chase up the team they would rather you did than leave things lie.

Take care

John.

Soke to cardiology nurse and she said I get a letter in a week or something. They have to wait for secretary to type the letters up. But just get light headed hot flush just before I feel I'm going to pass out. And even just sitting down sometimes feel my heart going. And tired all the time.

The delays are not ideal are they. All you can do there is wait for the letter, but I’d be chasing it up every few days. Hopefully that will have some explanation and advice for you along with any changes to medications and treatment.

Remember it’s not been that long since you had your heart attack and stents fitted.

Keep well

John.

Does that make a difference that my heart attack was only months ago

It may do, people take different times to recover from them and the stents being fitted.I was getting odd twinges for a few months afterwards, only low on the 1-10 scale, but probably I was more conscious of any ache my body made.

It’s a bit different to you though as you say your heart rate is all over the place and that’s measurable with your ecg not just a feeling.

Did you notice if it was connected with taking your meds at any time?

Not really. Goes low at about 5am when I'm aslle and then odd times through the day

Yup my pulse drops to the low 50s in the early hours, but can go up to 140 ish when I exercise. It’s fairly consistent with what I’m doing physically.
