I saw consultant today in regards to having two colonoscopy’s to remove numerous polyps from my bowel. She talked about stopping my asprin for 4 weeks which is a major worry for me. I am due to finish Tricagrelor in April as well. She also said that the scope posed a risk of heart attack. These have to be removed within the next few weeks but I’m so scared of at what price . She is going to contact cardiologist and ask him to see me before hand . I k is she was talking worst scenario but it has just added to my worries . Anyone been in a similar situation ?

Hi - I am having a colonoscopy on Monday- consultant knows the meds I am on & has not asked me to stop anything - interesting the different views consultants have

They have identified that I have a number of polyps which they are going to remove using the scope so it may be because of the danger of bleeding . Nevertheless it scares me to stop the aspirin. Good luck with your colonoscopy.

I’ve just had a colonoscopy, and was told to stop my Rivaroxaban for two days beforehand.

I was die to have colonoscopy in December last year but of course it was cancelled and I was told then to stay on asprin and stop Tricagrelor 5 days before . I hope cardiologist can clear it up for me

Hi, I'm due to have a 4th Colonoscopy on the 7th April. It is policy to stop all blood thinning meds beforehand to minimise any bleeding due to removal of Polyps etc . I am presently on Endoxoban but have been on Warfarin and Asprin before that and always told to stop them beforehand . Don't worry it's not as bad as you think. As you will know, the prep is the worst part of it.Good luck.

Awe thank you . The consultant scared me a bit by telling me the scope was a risk of another HA and then saying about stopping the aspirin. Thank you it’s good to hear other have been through similar and are ok .

You are given a mild sedative and O2 and made to feel very relaxed, you don't feel a thing. As I said, the prep beforehand isn't very nice, but think it's for the best results.

Hi Garto1, it's only 4 weeks. Try not to worry. Sounds like your consultant is being very thorough.

I was due a colonoscopy some months back; wasn't asked to stop any meds. MIne didn't actually happen, I had a scan instead but the removal of polyps could cause bleeding. You must definitely get he cardiologists advice. If you are due to come off ticagrelor anyway, doing that a month early won't matter but I wouldn't stp anything else without the cardio's advice.
