Hi, I am Suman from Nepal and have heart disease called DCM (Dilated cardiomyopathy). My LV EF (Left Ventricle Ejection Fraction) has dropped to 10% most recently. It was 20% 5 years ago. Unfortunately, the medical system is not that good in my country and am planning to travel abroad for better medical treatment. I have heard many good things about heart treatment in UK. What is the process and opportunities for a foreign national (Non-EU and Non-UK national) for travelling to UK for medical treatment? Or, for the time-being, consulting with the UK heart specialists about my situation?
I will be thankful for any relevant information.
Regards,
Suman

Non EU nationals need a visa and have to pay an immigration surcharge. The U.K. discourage health tourism There are waiting lists for U.K. heart consultants on NHS and you need to be referred by a GP. However you can access private medical services. I would think you need to be fairly wealthy to undertake travelling here to get medical help. You also have to comply with the U.K. Covid guidelines to enter the country.
Hi Jenny,Thank you so much for your reply. Is there some way or some links or platforms where I can consult private medical services/service providers virtually before deciding to travel?
Not specifically. Most people will mostly use the cardiologist local to themselves usually through Spire Hospitals or Bupa or Nuffield hospitals. Then you access their reviews to get an idea of their fields of expertise and interests.
