So hubby was rushed in January 2021 to hospital with breathlessness, 2 weeks later sent home with severe heart failure.
Obviously we couldn’t visit, and his brain is so foggy, forgetful due to HF, I had one call from doctor explaining more to me.
But I can honestly say, the heart nurse was lovely, explained it all to us, scary but positive. His heart is only 17% working on the bottom left, but she’s hopeful meds and health will improve this.
She’s put him on the new drug DAPAGLIFLOZIN , she’s said to not restrict water as his sodium levels are fine, but not to be daft and guzzle it.
We see her again in 2 weeks, feel so much better after seeing her x

I am so glad you feel better after talking to the HF nurse. Our experience is very similar to yours. My husband was rushed to hospital with breathlessness on December 23rd 2020. He was sent home with heart failure and an EF of 30%. The cardiologist said the same to us (we are Norwegian and live in Oslo) so they have the same type of follow up here. Sticking to medication, watching what you eat and staying active is very important. My husband feels great and the medication has made such a difference. I feel I have a new husband! He has a healthy glow about him, his teeth whitened (?!)....and many other things I noticed. I was petrified initially. Still not comfortable with the situation, but it does get better! This forum is amazing! Whenever I start to worry I go on here and read the posts. Knowledge is power and really helps. After the initial shock I have realised that this can be managed and many people live very normal lives. I have also come to realize that many people ( unfortunately) have HF. I am hopeful that my husband’s EF will increase and keeping everything crossed until our next meeting with the cardiologist! Please do not google! I did and it scared me so much. The doctor told me that information is outdated and is not representative. Stick to this site. There are so many lovely and supportive people here. Hang in there! Wishing you all the best 😄
