Hi since having Covid in Oct I now appear to have some heart issues, (unsure if this was underlying or due to covid they don't know this yet) it is Left ventricle pump not working, very sluggish now allowing enough oxygen to the heart, after lots of testing I am still waiting for Coronary Cardiac angiogram to be done, however in the mean time they have prescribed 1.25mg of Bisoprolol and Ramipril.

Has anyone experienced weight gain with Bisoprolol?

No , as I took Bisoprolol, never had that problem redies! Covid is horrible, so sorry you had that but thank goodness you have recovered and you are still alive! Long Covid affects lots of people like you! Glad you got meds to get your blood pressure down that's what Ramipril does! Bisoprolol helps that your heart hasn't to work so hard also when you in a stressful situation! I hope you get your treatments soon!

Where do you live as think it depends as well if NHS services are overstretched in your area! But try and relax and don't get overly worried redies okay! 👍💕🤗

Thank you snowdrops. Yes Covid isn’t nice and to be left with long issues isn’t good but we have the best nhs so I’m in good hands. I’ve not got high BP the ramipril has been given to me to relax the blood vessels to allow more oxygen and blood to the heart. Just nervous taking tablets for life and god I know millions do it and it’s just what we have to do to keep us safe. I just worry about the side effects. Thanks for your kind words.

Hi redies I have been on biosoprolol 2.5 for over a year now and I would be delighted if I had put on weight with this medication as I am quite slim and in need of a few additional pounds. Throughout my life I have tried in many ways to increase my weight, but to no avail.Ahh finally, I have gained nearly 2kilos in weight over a period of 2/3 weeks, which is far too much. Personally, I put my weight gain down to something more sinister.

Please hear with me.

After reading your post a light bulb came on in my head, so I ruled out Bisoprolol as the cause of weight gain in my case because I been on them for quite some time, no weight gain issue at all.

However, like yourself I got Covid which lasted about 3 weeks if not longer. I was bedridden....could not eat food at all for over the three weeks. Suspected I was loosing weight. Slowly, coming out of covid, I was trying to get my appetite back to my previous eating pattern yet I noted weight gain within the first week, which accumulated to over 2kilos in a short period of time. OMG now I have to diet!! My clothes are way too small.

What is amazing is, every time I slept while laid up with Covid my fitbit showed that my heart rate was working at fat burning mode, as if I was actually doing extreme exercise while I slept. Bloody hell, extreme sleep workouts which went on for very long periods, over eight hours at a time while I was so ill, who would believe it. Fitbit graphs of heart function during sleep (massive spikes) and awake (normal spikes) is mind blowing. No wonder some people end up with newly detected heart problems or further heart damage to pre-existing or undetected heart issues.

Covid has made my pre-existing heart problems much worse. Honestly, with all the fat burning exercise my heart went through in sleep mode, it's a wonder I did not have a heart attack or a stroke. So I am lucky really. Not looking forward to getting this weight off though...like the covid virus it might be here to stay. Heavens forbid.

Can't explain my weight gain in biological, metabolic or scientific terms etc. However, I do believe Covid has done something to my body and changed it, re: unexplained weight gain problem.

To good to hear what you think redies.

Hi dizzy. When did you have covid? It’s strange that you say you have gained weight. I am also very slim and over the past two weeks I too have gained 2kilos. Not started the bisoprolol however so your post makes me think about Covid and after effects. I’ve not changed my diet and am probably eating less than I was pre Covid. Thanks for the information about bisoprolol though gives me some relief. I hope you stay safe and well x

Hey Red, what a coincidence....both of us with a 2 kilo weight gain in same period of time after covid. Like yourself, I also eating less than I was pre Coviid and also been doing more exercise, before I became aware that I had.put on weight. Don't think food I eat has anything to do with the weight gain either....something has changed in my body. Have noticed water retention issue also despite drinking lots of water....got a very rounded puffy face, bone features gone, which I have never had. Very weird stuff going on here.Covid hit me on Xmas day.

I not a happy bunny, or should I say hippo, having to take bisoprolol or any medication long term. For now need for the med rules.

Have a rewarding day, hope all goes well with your cardio investigations.
