Just spotted this article about alternatives to statin tablets which reduce the dose and the side effects. Needs more work but anything that reduces the number of tablets and the muscle pain .... msn.com/en-gb/health/medica...

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I have a dislike of the concept of inhaling things other than fresh air into my lungs. To get a certain effect such as lowering your BP and cholesterol you need to hit a certain concentration of a drug. If you are getting muscle aches talk to your GP about lowering dose or changing statins. I changed from Simvastatin to Atorvastatin and the problem was solved. In retrospect the aches were minimal compared to the phantom pains I have been suffering since my BKA (below knee amputation).

thank you for your reply. I am sorry to read that you have had to have an amputation. However I think you misunderstood my contribution. I understand that others suffer from muscle pain, etc and thought that this might be a positive thing that researchers are taking it seriously and doing something about it.

Interesting article, as someone who reacted quite badly to the first statin I was given, i have been reluctant to try any others, if this proves successful then it may be, as it says, an alternative for those that do react.
