Ramipril 10 mg at wits end
Are you on any other meds for your BP apart from Rampril, I take both Ramipril & Amlodipine to keep mine under control.
No just Clopidogrel Aspirin for my heart
Bisoprolol was stopped due to having sudden blood pressure dropped after walking
Might be worth chatting with your GP about adding another BP med, It’s not unusual to be on a couple of BP meds to get it under control.
Thank you I think I will this morning I just can’t seem to get it under control after my bypass surgery I thought things might get back to some normality
Hi,
After my surgery was put on Ramipril didn’t suit me gave me a cough now on Candesartan Bisoprolol Furosemide and aspirin. My blood pressure is between 100/65 110/70 this as been for the last 4 years.
Think you need to speak to your GP/cardiologist we normally have a couple of different tablets to control our blood pressure,
Pauline
Just took blood pressure it’s 150/115 I just don’t understand why my Diastolic is so high
Hello and welcome to the forum!
Generally dual therapies work better than a single medication as you have two different mechanisms reducing BP. Besides beta blockers there are CCIs (calcium channel inhibitors like Amlodipine) and diuretics (like Furosemide) that could be tried. You are on an ACE inhibitor and it is unusual to combine these with an ARB.
Weight reduction can also have a significant effect so it would be useful to try and achieve a BMI in the normal range.
Good luck.
Thanks for that advice I just wonder why my doctor & cardiologist are not offering me these options
Hi Hambo58 - can I suggest you find some dietary advice/support, there should be someone online who could help you. I have put on comment on the next post which links in.
If I am reading your information correctly you are about 15 stone, height 5 foot 11 inches. As such you are about 3 stones higher than your healthy BMI level.
If you look at following an 800 calorie low carb health y fat diet you will probably find your BP coming down. If you look at the dash 800 diet by Dr Mosely it explains it quite well. Basically forget the sugar, bread, cakes, pies etc, If you can combine this with a 2-3 mile brisk walking session with your dogs everyday you will see your readings start to change as you restrict energy in and increase the amount the energy out,
yes - I always remember that for every (1 lb) lost you get 1 point off your B/P so lose 10 lbs and get 10 off the B/P. 3 stone = 42 lbs......I am trying to get a bit of weight off too - I'm top of BMI 25 but as my B/P not great and most meds upset me so much I'll try that rather than go on meds - I have had irregular pulse at 48 bpm courtesy Ibuprofen which was picked up on my B/P monitor. I have stopped the Ibuprofen and heart starting to behave, I think and hope, but ECG tomorrow anyway.
Try the lose an ounce a day diet. Just one oz. Weigh every night before bed. Eat as normal but take just one item out of your diet, e.g. biscuits, or choc, cake, or white bread (wholemeal is better for you), sugar in tea or sugary cereals for breakfast. Don't eat after 7pm. Summer is coming and you will be able to move more and get out and enjoy it.
Another thought - do you drink a lot of tea or coffee?
