Just had my first appointment with the pacemaker technician. She tells me that the top of my heart (she mentioned atrium I think) is pacing at 100%, whereas the bottom of my heart is pacing at 55%. Does anyone know what this means? She adjusted it down from base rate 60 to 55. She also tells me that I should see my gp for a cardiac monitor as I’m having central chest aching at night.

Good morning Arrowe , I had a dual pacemaker fitted in October, I had to send a couple of readings to the clinic via the mediatronic app and was told the top chamber hadn’t been used at all but the bottom chamber had been working 36% of the time . So I guess 36% of the time my heart would have been beating too slow so the pacemaker kicked in.
That sounds right to me. A 7 day heart monitor sounds in order.
I have a Bi-ventricular PM to keep things synchronized and control pulse.
Think of the 2 top chambers - the atria - as the primer for the big pump - the ventricles. They should all work together but when they don’t and things get out of sync then the heart doesn’t pump out oxygenated blood to the body effectively.
