Found a great read!

Hi all, high blood pressure and heart-related problems are common in my family and therefore this year more than ever before, I am determined to gain new knowledge and stay healthy. I recently read a very useful and affordable (as my budget is tight) book on Amazon called 'the food alphabet for heart health' by Michelle Leon. I liked how it talked about what foods to include in the diet for heart health (for e.g. legumes & walnuts) and how to include them. It provides you with a checklist and has recipes, a meal plan and even a blood pressure monitoring log. What I am looking for now is a good book about exercising for heart health. Any suggestions?

Looks like a good book. I'm not sure about exercise books though. I stick to a regular programme of brisk walks. I had thoroughly evil blood pressure now under control.I eat a mainly plant based diet now with occasional fish and dairy and lost five and a half stone.I found the book 'How not to die' very good.

There is not really a definitive exercise book as a person's ability to exercise depends on many factors including age, weight, type and extent of heart disease, and any other health issues. Initially it is best to guided by your GP or rehab team.

Thanks. Sounds like it is more based on individual need. No wonder I struggled to find books on it.

First of all you must find something you enjoy, otherwise you won't stick with it.Wether that is walking or rock climbing. My wife as never liked exercising but some weeks ago I stumbled across Joe Wicks exercises for seniors and asked her to have a go.She does it every day, sometimes twice a day. It's only 10 minutes long so you won't be wrecked after.Good luck and enjoy x

Thanks for the advice. I like walking, so I think I will start with that.
