Although I haven't brought one a small medical unit I was in had an IPAD AED. This is semi-automatic with voice prompts with a good reputation.

Have you thought of speaking to your cardiologist about an ICD? One saved the life of my niece's father-in-law at the start of 2019. After serving a mandatory six month driving ban he changed his car and went on holiday!

Hi, I run a community group (twitter.com/DodgyTickers) and bought a one previous owner defib from a GP practice but NEVER USED. It is ‘Welch Allyn’ and having researched company they are renowned for making medical equipment. I figured if it is good enough for a GP it’s good enough for me. I bought new pads and new battery separately as a precaution as they are perishable, and saved a bundle. It is an excellent piece of kit and talks you through what to do which provides confidence using it. Brand new different ones can be between £650-£1000 but you can pick one up like I did for next to nothing but you will have to search on the usual selling platforms.

Good luck and HNY.

I've got my own inbuilt one (ICD, see Michael's post above), but good luck with your search for an external one. Hearty New Year!

i have had 5 heart attacks and 4 cardiac arrests over 15 year period the latest a few months ago and I remember this cardiac arrest hitting the floor and my defibulater kicked in i did not know who or where i was the phone was continually ringing unbeknown to me it was hospital trying to tell me i was dead as the signal had been sent from my meditron home box to them. it was about 20 mins of being paralysed before I answered it and asked the nurse if i was in heaven.so point I am making is if i had had a home defibulater in box how would i have used it I would think there are a lot of people who live on there own like me and unless your defibulater is built into your chest ....sorry being so dramatic but its a true reflection
