Just thought I'd let everyone know that I've been out of hospital for a week now, after waiting 13 months and two cancellations for an urgent aortic valve replacement. Stiches due out tomorrow. I'm especially grateful to Tessie28 who warned me that even though the op is termed 'key hole' it is still pretty drastic so I was better prepared than I otherwise would have been. 'Letter box' surgery might be more appropriate, or perhaps they are thinking of one of those medieval church doors! Relative to a CABG though, a couple of 4 inch scars is nothing. After 24hrs in the ICU my drain was removed and I was transferred to the ward. Disappointingly, I felt just like I remembered after my CABG 15 years ago, but now, although I'm still rather bruised, breathless and bushwacked, I feel unbelievably better and stronger than I could have imagined before Xmas. Many thanks to everyone who supported me in those dark days of waiting and to all the community for whom I have tremendous admiration as we share our struggles with our physical and mental demons. A brighter 2021 to everyone. Stay safe all.
