How to be positive about your heart
Please try not to worry I have been having missed heartbeats/palpitations for 18 months and sometimes thousand in the day but I am still here. Have you tried taking magnesium if you look at UTube Sanjay Gupter a York cardiologist he explains in simple language about extra/missed heartbeats and also the advantages of taking a magnesium supplement. You could also look up Austin Goh natural exercise for helping stop palpitations and missed beats.
Thsnks for replying yeah im taking magnesium and it does help i just can't shake the living in fear and waiting for it to happen its taking over my life
Hello
Only have time for a quick answer but had ectopics for approx 35 years and I am still here. I can have 1000s in a day and they can be every other heartbeat or every other one, or every 3rd beat, or every 5th beat. So try not to worry they are not going to kill you,.
The only time I am concerned is when they become every other beat as with Heart Failure you can become a little dizzy.
They are a pain in the ar** but they won't kill. What meds do you take as Bisoprolol can help ??

Hi thank u for your reply I really appreciate it im currently not on any meds im trying to change my mind frame and not worry and let it take over but its hard. Merry Christmas
I also get ectopic beats, discovered last week. The 7-day monitor confirmed I get up to 2000 ectopic beats daily on average, without me being aware of them usually. But it is benign at the moment. It is due to my hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The doc started me on 1.25mg bisoprolol at night to reduce the twitchability of my heart.
To try to help me get my mind to adapt to this, I have sought the professional help of a psychologist who combines a mix of cognitive behavioural therapy and traditional counselling techniques on our meetings. It has greatly helped my mental health and reduced my anxiety levels. So for me, this treatment helps. Perhaps you might consider accessing such a treatment to help you with your anxiety levels. The other way which so many GPs resort to is to write a prescription for some anxiety pill, like valium or prozac coz that is easier/cheaper.
Ask about Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. It is a talking therapy aimed at your mindset and looking for a positive view on things. You are obviously ok physically but have got into a doubting frame of mind.A positive thought for today - my heart must be ok - all of the tests I have had are showing that it’s ok.
Take care, Jane
Thank u for your reply i have tried cognitive therapy many times for my anxiety but it just hasn't worked not sure why maybe its down to the therapist i have had or ne just frustrating xx
It can be the therapist as I found after spending quite a lot of money and getting nowhere. Their message was always about the same, pick self up, go out, meet up, do stuff at a time I was struggling to dress. But at the end of the lastvsession the therapist suggested writing a book. Daft idea? No, best one. I got a good photo album and sorted out photos of my life. No one else really, just me. I started with one of the house where I was born and ended with one of me now with my cat. I stuck the photos in following my 'journey' leaving space to handwrite comments in white on black. I gave it a name 'just an ordinary girl. I called it my scrapbook as it wasn't neat or polished. I gave equal space to happy days and sad days. By the end, just a couple of months, I felt different. More emotionally in control. I still add the odd memory to it. It may not be for you but someone might find it useful. And of course because its yours, you decide if anyone sees it. My two sons did and their wives and were touched by it. All the best.
Oh really that sounds really good i may five that a try im willing to try anything that can help me get my life back on track
Hello love cats That was a good idea I don't know how computer savvy you are, but you can probably follow your Family Tree using the internet if you wanted to. In my opinion it would maybe add something to your album. I would be willing to help you if you wanted to follow that route we could do it by messaging or e mail etc. Just a thought.
I know this may seem a little odd for Health Unlocked but I followed an Uncle and a Great Uncle through WW 1 and visited a Commonwealth War Graves sites to say hello to both of them !!

Thank you for the offer. I will, keep it in mind but not for my scrapbook. That was for therapy and really worked. It helped me cope with negativity, anxiety and poor self worth which has helped with my heart. I am going to do one about my husband who died last December. We are tidying his garage and discovering absolute gems. Not of financial value but giving a depth to his character we didn't know was there. The whole point in not completing as you write but adding memories as they come to you. So it is a scrap book with no style or right way. Just let it evolve!
If it helps I've had missed and erratic beats for 30 years now; also told they are harmless and I believe it.
Oh really did u struggle believing it at first is there anything u did that helped u
I did before I knew what it was. They kept trying ECGs but they were so erratic they never showed up. Then I finally had a treadmill test. Absolutely nothing showed during the test but luckily they left teh electrodes attached while I cooled down and lo and behold I had a big run of ectopics; many more than I actually felt. They said they could see which part of the heart was causing them and it was completely harmless. That was enough for me. As I said that was around 30 years ago and I still get them but much more rarely; mostly when I get anxious. I have had a heart attack since then, 2 years ago but it had absolutely nothing to do with the ectopic beats.
SO do I. Had a complete breakdown years ago with really bad panic attacks and have a mistrust of doctors and medication; I have an auto immune disease which gives bad reactions to a lot of medications so I'm really wary. Diagnosed with health anxiety since a horrid GP told me aged 17 that I probably had breast cancer- I didn't of course but it's affected me all my life. However when they finally saw the ectopics I was so relieved and they were adamant they were coming from a part of the heart that wouldn't cause problems I just had to believe them. I know now that thousands of people get them and the main trigger is often anxiety. My own experience shows that clearly. The more anxious I am the more I get.
Hello, I find that I can normally get rid of bouts of ectopics beats within a few minutes using simple breathing exercises. This may give you the power to control them, rather than the other way round. Anxiety will cause them for me & if I go seeking them out, I’ll always find them because I’ll have caused them... A real vicious circle. Since knowing I can rid them with breathing exercises they now pass very quickly on arrival because I pay them no mind - they’re all but powerless now. Please give it a try, there’s a lot of info online & it’s really simple. Good luck, I hope you’re in control of them soon. Stay strong 💪 Steve.

I have very serious heart issues and tons of anxiety. Funny, but the anxiety is in my chest, right over my heart. Until I have surgery, I focus on what I can do right NOW: lower BP, weight control. exercise, salt intake, learn about my heart issues. Breathing meditation helps me from moment to moment. Therapy will help you with anxiety, for certain, but you must be willing to be helped, That sounds a bit brutal, but it is the sad truth, that many people "in therapy" want the therapist to fix them and that's not how it (and life) works. Try the anxietysupport blog, it's great.
