A rash when taking Furosemide

Hi has anyone had a reaction to Furosemide? I have a itchy rash with hives all over my body since I’ve started to take them. It’s the only new medication I’ve had & no change in food, soap powder etc.

Hi, I don't want to alarm you but the guidance on the NHS site seems to suggest this may be a serious allergic reaction and suggests that you ring 999 or go to A&E if you get a skin rash that may include itchy, red, swollen, blistered or peeling skin.It may not be, but I'd be inclined to ring 999 and tell them what the NHS page says and they'll send a paramedic to have a look, or ring 111 as this seems to be the preferred option rather than turning up in A&E.

PS - I'm not medically trained, just reading what the NHS site says about this medication. Hope you can get it sorted.

Thank you for the advice. I have seen a dermatologist today & he thinks it might be the Furosemide as that’s all that has changed. I’ve had a biopsy so will have to wait & see. I’ve stopped them until I know. Seeing my cardiologist tomorrow to talk about another water tablet.

OK great, glad you're fine. There are a number of different diuretics so hopefully they put you on one that doesn't cause any problems.
