Welcome, I am sure you will find this site very informative, it's good to be able to ask about any concerns you have regarding your health. I personally have Atriall Fibrillation & extensive Osteoarthritis. Best wishes
Hello 4020Welcome to the forum, whenever we have a heart issue it makes us question every ache pain and twitch we have! And living through these very trying times as made us all a bit anxious.
If you have been discharged from your cardiologist try talking to your GP about how you are feeling, there is help out there to get through this, some people on the forum find the Mindfulness app works really well, remember you are part of the Hearties family and someone will always be here to listen or give you a shoulder to lean on. You are not alone.
Best wishes Pauline
I have seen my cardiologist as my appointment was canceled so have seen no one
Pauline thank you I was feeling really down having no contact to ask about any heart matters the doctors are just so busy xx
It’s awful when our appointments are cancelled, it’s as if we are in no mans land not moving forward ! But if we have a problem we have to be proactive, we are told the NHS is open for business 😉 so please phone your GP, and get an appointment about your concerns, I have a telephone appointment tomorrow with my GP, about some blood tests, so they are there to help, even if it’s just over the phone. Forgot to ask did you manage to get cardio rehab in before lockdown? If so try phoning the cardio nurse, and if you didn’t look into getting on the list for when it starts up again, I found it invaluable as much for my mental health as my stamina. Being with others who have been through what we have makes you feel not so alone. Maybe that’s something you can look into.
Hope your feeling more upbeat soon,
Pauline
Pauline I took the bull by the horns and got in touch with Doctor I had blood pressure taken and bloods but it really scared me even though I never miss my medication. My pressure is up nurse made a phone call consultation with Doctor for me tomorrow so am now super worried ,My anxiety comes out as Medical anxiety has done for years I do anything to avoid seeing a doctor ,but when am ok it’s not a problem so today and tomorrow is my worst nightmare xxxxx
Your blood pressure will be up if you are anxious! My husband as what they call white coat phobia I take his blood pressure at home it’s perfect 15 minutes later he is sat with the nurse and it’s right up 😩 I really feel for you being so anxious, but just think this time tomorrow you will have had your phone call and things will be ok. It might be just a case of tweaking your meds, Take good care Pauline x
I managed to get 3 week cardio before the COVID closed it down but I was lead to believe you could not get a call back once it’s over as the team would have such a back log of patients ,I did enjoy it xx
3 weeks, isn’t very long, the course is normally about 10 weeks, I live in Scotland here it’s 10 weeks at the hospital and then another 3 months at the local gym. Ask if you can finish your course.
Welcome to the club Anna, you are very welcome.😃
Welcome, and everyone here will always help, I am on week 5 of 8 at cardio rehab, and it helps a great deal
My anxiety was off the scale after my heart attack. I referred myself to the N.H.S. mental health team for cognitive behaviour therapy and it really helped. I live in Lancashire but I'm sure you'll have something similar.
I am in Scotland and when I search on line I can’t find where I can ask for cognitive therapy ,I would love to go
It's called Living Life in Scotland. Click on this link for C.B.T. on the N.H.S. in Scotland. breathingspace.scot/news/20.... Telephone number for self referral is 08003289655. You'll get a telephone assessment and decide between you what is the most suitable course for you. Good luck.
Hi I am in Scotland and my hospital the golden jubilee offer it, they have a psychiatrist attached to the cardiac unit, he still does face to face appointments and also phone, my local hospital the RAH in Paisley also have a psychologist attached to the rehab unit, I am not sure if they are doing face to face at the moment, it would be worth asking your Dr or consultant about your local hospital, take care char
